Working Several Weekends Turned a House from a Dump into Diva in Montebello

When my friend and I decided to buy a house to rehab we really had no idea what we were getting into.  We began our search and in August we found our perfect project.  Excitedly we put our offer in, all cash, only to find out that there were several offers on the table. Bummer!  A few days later we were disappointed to learn that although we could close in 10 days, they took an offer for more money and decided to go with the 45 day escrow.  A few weeks later we got a call saying that the first offer was backing out and would we like to still purchase.  Yeah! We were on our way.

After closing escrow we spent every weekend for the next 8 weeks pulling cabinets out, pulling carpet up, sanding the beautiful wood, repairing walls, ceilings and putting new light fixtures.  It was grimy, filthy, slimy and every other “dirty” word that you can think of.  We came home smelling musty and dirty and who knows what.  But we began to see the vision we had for this beautiful old 1920’s home start coming to life.

Now the work is done and this home is truly turned into a Montebello Diva.  All new flooring, new kitchen cabinets and granite counters, new stainless stove and microwave, new cabinet in the bathroom, new molding throughout, new windows, new light fixtures.  It’s amazingly beautiful and the long hours and all the grime and grit was totally worth it!  Along the way we learned so much and yet had fun watching the transition from Dump to Diva!
